Installation is straightforward, and the glass door knob set includes 2-inch outside diameter knobs. These door knobs are intended for interior use only and come with a 17/64-inch x 3-1/2-inch steel spindle with 3/8-inch -20 threads. The set fits square drive spindle systems commonly found in antique and vintage door hardware, and it can be adjusted to accommodate different door thicknesses.
The diecast base on these knobs includes the set screws for fastening the knobs to the square spindle, but it does not include the internal mortise lock body, the door rosettes, the trim and strike plates, or the latch and fasteners, all of which must be purchased separately. It's important to note that this item cannot be used on pre-bored doors with large, newer-style door knob holes without first preparing them to receive this hardware. To ensure a proper installation, the large 2-1/8-inch (approximate size) holes must be filled with a hardening filler, such as Fix-It-All or Bondo Body Filler, to provide a solid surface for the rosette fasteners.
Additionally, it is recommended to apply a small amount of Loctite ThreadLocker 271 to the set screw threads to prevent them from loosening over time.
